Nephrite Jade featured in Mining and Exploration!

CabinHouse TradingPost and Blue Sage Mineral Company, LLC are pleased to announce their affiliation with Legendary Jade and Stone and Michael Barlow of Tumbulgum, South Wales, Australia.

The assets of Legendary Jade and Stone include many high end carvings, jewelry, ornaments, beads, bangles, table tops, and more.  A mining claim, where Yukon Jade is mined in the Yukon in upper British Columbia, boasts some of the top premium translucent, apple green nephrite jade in the world.

Michael Barlow of Tumbulgum, Australia, mines another of the top premium nephrite jade.  Australian Jade, aka Australian Greenstone, occurs as swirls of green and black along with the premium AAA grade of translucent, emerald green nephrite jade.

Mining For Yukon Jade!

Traveling to the far reaches of the world above Northern British Columbia is an adventure!  The Alaskan Highway to Watson Lake stretches out from Seattle, Washington for 1600 miles.  It is another 90 miles from Watson Lake to the jade mine.  The jade mine is about where the "O" is in Wildhorse on the map.  The mountains create and incredible scenic tour along the way as long as it is not snowing.  Travel to the mine is rugged and slow.  The roads can often wash out and become very slippery on the serpentine and soapstone mountain.  You do not want to break down since it is a long walk back!

Needless to say, the trip is always worth the effort.  Mining for Yukon Jade is accomplished by hand and equipment when it is available.  No blasting takes place in order to preserve the mineral from unnecessary fractures which could occur from the powerful concussions.  This being said, nephrite jade is the "strongest", not the hardest, mineral in the world.  Mining for Yukon Jade occurs only in a narrow window of time.  The area only gets about 90 days a year without freezing temperatures.  Progress has to be accomplished during this window of time.  The goal of Roger Krichbaun of Legendary Jade and Stone, is to retrieve the highest grade of nephrite jade, in the greatest quantity possible during this period of availability.  His purpose is to bring the most beautiful nephrite jade in the world to you, our customers.

The Journey 2007
All images were taken September to October, 2007

The "Argo" is a great vehicle for the trip.  Of course there is need for larger equipment at times for mining.  It is a rugged trip.  Planning must always consider the prospect of going through a lot of fuel and supplies.  The "journey" is always worth the effort!
